Russian Jet Crashes Near Irkutsk, Siberia

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: We are continuing to gather information on the crash of a Tupelov 154, a Russian commercial jet, which has crashed near the Siberian city of Irkutsk with 143 people onboard.
We can tell you that rescue teams already are in the area. They are about 20 miles from Irkutsk attending to the crash site which we don't know much more about. We do know there were 143 aboard, 133 passengers, ten crew. We are waiting to hear about that.
We are also getting information that this plane dropped off radar screens about 9:10 p.m. Moscow time. That's 1:10 p.m. Eastern time, approximately an hour and a half ago. Events are moving quickly. We should have more information shortly for you. We will pass it along.
