Jerusalem Bomb Kills Four, Injures Twenty

COLLEEN MCEDWARDS, CNN ANCHOR: Want to update you on a breaking story here on CNN. The situation in central Jerusalem, four people confirmed dead, at least 20 other injured at this point after a powerful explosion went off. Officials confirming to our bureau in Jerusalem that it was a bomb, but no one saying whether it was a suicide bomb, whether any Palestinian militant groups were responsible for it at this point. Only that it was a bomb, went off in a pizza parlor just before 2:00 p.m. local time, crowded with people having lunch.

You can see a rather chaotic scene there. Those are -- that was shot a little bit earlier. Our Jerusalem reporter Jerrold Kessel was reporting just a few minutes ago. It's calmed down there substantially since then, but these are the scenes from earlier. So 20 people injured, four people confirmed dead, no claim of responsibility for this bomb. But of course, one of the issues in the Middle East peace process that has been sort of floundering -- or not sort of floundering -- floundering quite a lot these days is whether or not Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat should clamp down on Palestinian militant groups for this kind of violence is sure to fuel those calls.
