Bomb Injures 90 in Jerusalem

LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Word coming from Jerusalem of two -- of at least two explosion by suicide bombers, and a third one by a car -- possibly car bomb, according to police there, timed to take out the emergency workers who showed up on the scene to help those hurt by the initial blast.

You're seeing just now some of the latest pictures that we've gotten in within the last couple of minutes, even -- since we went to break. And the numbers -- as we warned earlier, the numbers of the casualties are climbing, and quickly. We now have reports of 90 people who are reportedly injured. And we hear at least of them (sic) were reportedly injured severely. We do not know exactly what that means.

Again, we expect this number to go up, because it was -- these detonations happened in a very, very crowded area. This happened outside of a cafe in an outdoor pedestrian mall at a very popular time of night. it was close to midnight there in central Jerusalem.

And as can you can probably tell from some of these pictures, there were plenty of people out on the streets at the time this happened. We also understand that there was -- so many of the people had to be rushed to the hospitals in Jerusalem the hospitals there have issued a call for volunteers to come in and help in this emergency, as they're calling it.

Again, this happened just about -- within the last hour or so, just before midnight local time, which would have been just before 5:00 p.m. Eastern time here. Two suicide bombers detonated explosives, and then a third car bomb goes off. And we're still trying to count the casualties.

And we'll give it to you -- we'll get the latest information for you as soon as we get it. We have reporters there on the scene working the story, and once we get the information here in the CNN Center, we will deliver it to you.
