Explosion in Rishon Letzion

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Israeli police confirm with CNN that there has been an explosion. Many injuries, we are told, in the town of Rishon Letzion. That's just south of Tel Aviv. The same town where just about two weeks ago a suicide bomber walked into a pool hall on the third floor of a building with a suitcase bomb loaded with nails and other studded material, exploded inside that pool hall, killing many people. That was an area that was frequented by elderly people.

We're now told today through police that this explosion has occurred in that same town of Rishon Letzion -- many injured. There was a large number of wounded, according to a spokesperson. That's a quote.

The blast occurred in a pedestrian shopping area and appeared to have been carried out by a suicide bomber. Again, the early word that we're getting from the Middle East. If you look at the clock, it's right about 9:30 in the evening in the Middle East in Israel. And this is something we are working right now to get more information on.

But an explosion has taken place. There are injuries. Police have confirmed that here with CNN.
