WOLF BLITZER, CNN ANCHOR: Our Jason Carroll has been checking the reaction here a cumulative, almost sigh of relief in this greater Washington area.
Jason, tell us the kind of mood, the kind of feelings that you're hearing from people in Silver Spring, Maryland and Montgomery County where you are.

JASON CARROLL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Wolf, I think you definitely said it best, sigh of relief. People out here definitely pleased to hear the news that two suspects are in custody. Let me sort of set the scene for you, exactly where we are right now. We're at a mall where Sarah Ramos was killed back on October 3rd. If you take a look behind me, right there where you see that store, that Crisp and Juicy store, that's where she was sitting right in front, back on October 3rd when she was hit by a single gunshot wound. She was 34 years old, had a 7-year-old son.

The sniper attacks not only have had an emotional impact this community, but also an economic one as well a lot of people were afraid, as you know, to go out to gas stations, to go out to the mall.

Joining me right now very quickly, Joan Vierra (ph), Lisa Gorman (ph). They work in the area. They were here back on that day on October 3rd.

Tell me, let me start with you, what went through your mind when you first heard two suspects were in custody.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I was really relieved. I could not believe my ears. I was happy when I turned the news on this morning to hear they had picked up these two suspects.

CARROLL: I know we were talking earlier, you said just a few days ago that several people had called in to work afraid to come in. Tell me about that.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I guess, they were terrified to take the public bus system, and for some reason when the incident occurred, we all thought this was from this area, initially, the six shootings so, yes. We have a full staff again.

COSTELLO: People getting back to work.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right.

COSTELLO: Very quickly. What when do you think people emotionally will get back on track, start heading back out, doing what they need to do.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think once they hear that this is true, that these men are the actual suspects, and they put them in jail. I think people will start coming out and living their everyday life, and start to be normal again.

COSTELLO: Joan Vierra (ph), Lisa Gorman (ph), I want to thank both of you very, very much. Again, Wolf, people out here definitely in Silver Spring relieved, but I think listening to these two, they want to hear from the folks in Montgomery County that the two people that they have in suspect are indeed the two people that they're looking for -- Wolf.

BLITZER: Jason Carroll, I can only confirm exactly what you're reporting. I drove through a lot of Montgomery County this morning, and I spoke to several people, many of them, all of them in fact, very relieved. They are expressing hope this is the end of this tragedy that has afflicted this area.

Jason Carroll, thanks for joining us.
