ARTHEL NEVILLE, CNN ANCHOR: We have some breaking news to tell you about right now. We're going to go live to Brussels, where Matthew Chance is standing by with details about another failed NATO meeting -- Matthew.
MATTHEW CHANCE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Thank you, Arthel, and that is right. There's been no official announcement as yet, but we understand from NATO officials that this latest meeting of NATO ambassadors to try and find some compromise solution to this standoff has come to an end without an agreement.
France, Belgium, Germany, are still at odds with the other NATO allies about when to send NATO forces and equipment to Turkey to bolster its defenses as Turkey has requested before a possible war with Iraq. The compromise plan, which had been forwarded by the NATO secretary-general, Lord Robertson, involves sending Patriot missile batteries to Turkey, which has a border with Iraq, also AWACS early warning aircraft systems to Turkish air space, as well as chemical and biological specialist warfare units. France, though, as well as Germany and Belgium apparently still maintaining their opposition -- Arthel.
