Taylor Would Leave Contingent Upon Arrival of Foreign Force

MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Now, we're watching some breaking news for you this morning. The Reuters News Service leading the way on this. It's out of Liberia. The dateline is Monrovia. Liberia's President Charles Taylor has reportedly agreed to step down and, we are just told by Reuters, is willing to accept an offer of asylum by Nigeria.
He said in a previous statement, the previous report from Reuters, that he would leave contingent upon the arrival of a foreign force and that, of course, would be a U.S.-led force, presumably. And so we're tracking this very closely.

Jeff Koinange, who covers this for us, is literally on his way right now to Charles Taylor's office in Monrovia. We expect to hear from him and with some luck soon to be outgoing President Charles Taylor in just a little while.

But just once again, the headline from Reuters, the man you're seeing on the screen there, Charles Taylor, has agreed to step down, perhaps paving the way to a peaceful resolution of all the strife that has occurred in Liberia and has apparently, according to Reuters, accepted a Nigerian offer of asylum.
