BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: We want to get to the breaking news again developing from Iraq.
At least 30 American soldiers injured earlier today, a few hours ago, in fact, in a pair of bombings in northern Iraq. The explosions happened about three hours apart -- one at a U.S. military base west of Mosul, the other, northeast of Baghdad. Both appear to be suicide attacks.
Nic Robertson in Baghdad with more on both.
Nic -- hello.
NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Bill.
Well, the attackers choosing two different methods. At the base west of Mosul in the north of Iraq, an attacker drove a car at high speed at the base. He was stopped when troops fired on his vehicle. The vehicle detonated, 31 soldiers there were injured from the 101st Airborne. Eight of them were medically evacuated.
The other attacker had explosives strapped to his body. He was walking up to a gate near a U.S. base just north of Baghdad, about 45 minutes' drive away. He was feigning that he was ill, and as troops stood there, he then detonated the explosives. The two soldiers were injured, we are told not seriously at this time -- Bill.
HEMMER: Nic Robertson live in Baghdad. Much more on this throughout the morning.
