DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: It is Friday, time for the buzz behind some of the hottest stories in the news. Annika Sorenstam made our cut with her fashion style, creating chatter off the green. Tim Rogers with "D" magazine will size things up as we convene our roundtable. Also joining us, Dayna Devon, she is "Extra"'s correspondent and weekend anchor and she has the scoop on the latest on the "American Idol" controversy. And with me here in New York City, Michael Musto columnist for "The Village Voice" and the man with the latest on Rudy Giuliani's latest marital plunge -- again. We have to get in again on that. Michael, I'm going to get to you in a moment.
First, ladies first. Dayna, I'm going to start with you. "American Idol." Ruben a big winner, but lots of big questions about "American Idol" and how exactly did they count all those votes a few nights ago.

DAYNA DEVON, EXTRA" CORRESPONDENT: Yes. Hi, Daryn. How are you?

Yes, there has been some controversy actually during the live broadcast. Ryan Seacrest, the host, said that it was so close, that Ruben had actually gained 50.28 percent of the vote with a difference of 1,300 votes. Later, he corrected himself and said there were 13,000 votes. And then, later, Fox actually came back the next day, released a statement, and said it was 130,000 votes.

That led a lot of people to say, we demand a recount. Actually, I wonder personally why there would be need for a recount. Because both Ruben and Clay got recording contracts in a unique twist to this "American Idol". So really there's no difference between the winners there.

KAGAN: There's about a million dollars' difference, Dayna.

(CROSSTALK)

DEVON: No, he doesn't get a cash prize. He gets a recording contract, it's an unspecified amount of how much the recording contract is. Clay also got a recording contract, an unspecified amount. So really there's no difference. Obviously in name only, Ruben is the "American Idol." But like Simon said today, the real contest begins now.

KAGAN: It does. When singles are released on the same day in December.

Let's move on to Dallas now and the Annika Sorenstam situation. If you weren't with us, she did not make the cut. She did not have a great day on the golf course today, 4 over par. But what we're trying to get to from Dallas here is the idea that on sports talk radio in Dallas what are they talking about? Does she belong, does she not? No. They're obsessed with her looks. Say it is not so, please.

TIM ROGERS, "D" MAGAZINE: Oh, it's absolutely true. Don't hate me for it. Dallas as you know is not a city that's afraid of plastic surgery for instance. So it's a shame she didn't make the cut.

What was really more important than that, what people in Dallas were talking about, is Annika hot or not? And I tell you, in those white slacks, I think the early verdict from Dallas (UNINTELLIGIBLE) is she did pretty all right for herself.

KAGAN: Oh, come on, she did excellent for herself. It's about not making the cut, or making the cut. Is it just Dallas obsessed with big hair and lots of makeup? Is that the problem here?

ROGERS: As you know, we had another PGA event last week. The Byron Nelson. And we love golf here in Dallas. But that is secondary to things like -- anybody who's been to the Byron knows the place to be is the pavilion, under the tent. It's all about drinking, having a good time.

So when Annika brings her game to town, we're very interested to see if she makes the cut. But we're plagued with questions. Does she have a mustache or is that a shadow? Does she look good in pig tails? Silver hoop earrings were fetching. Does she do it for us? That's what we're concerned about here.

KAGAN: I'm not going to shoot the messenger. I'm going to save you from yourself and move on and bring Michael Musto in.

Big day here in the city tomorrow. Former mayor is getting married. The current mayor is going to do the honors.

MICHAEL MUSTO, "VILLAGE VOICE": Rudy Giuliani is marrying Judy Nathan, his long-time girlfriend.

KAGAN: Rudy and Judy.

MUSTO: Yes, it rhymes. Maybe it makes sense. It was supposed to be outdoors, outside Gracie Mansion. Considering the weather tomorrow it will probably be in tents. Intense, as it were.

KAGAN: Intense and inside of tents.

MUSTO: Mayor Bloomberg the current mayor of New York is conducting the ceremony, which he usually doesn't do.

(CROSSTALK)

MUSTO: And he's probably not going to like the fact that there's going to be a smoking section.

KAGAN: You know tell me about this. (UNINTELLIGIBLE) in the papers as I was driving into town on Wednesday. If you haven't heard, New York City, you just don't smoke in the bars, restaurants. But at...

(CROSSTALK)

KAGAN: There's going to be a special tent or area where guests of the Giulianis can smoke tomorrow?

MUSTO: You bend the rules if you're the former mayor and the current mayor is doing your wedding. Some of the guests are supposed to include Henry Kissinger and Placido Domingo who's one of Rudy's favorite singers.

Judy according to gossip columnist Cindy Adams is flying in Domingo to sing an aria for Rudy. Probably something about adultery, I don't know.

KAGAN: Plenty to sing about in that relationship. Four hundred guests. Are you on the list?

MUSTO: I'm not even on the list to stand outside and throw things. I'm staying home and watching it on TV I guess.
