ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Well, finally tonight Schwarzenegger and specifics. The moment he began running for governor, nit pickers in the media, you know who you are, began bugging him about his plans to solve California's budget crisis, heal its economy and fix its schools. They say they wanted specifics and complained he wasn't giving name. But a careful review of the public statements over the last few days reveals while he may not be specific, he's unspecifically consistent.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER (R), GOVERNORSHIP OF CALIFORNIA: The most important thing when you run a state is leadership.
The one thing we need for California now is leadership.
Governor Gray Davis has campaigned and has said this is experience.
You cannot buy and look what happened. It's not the experience, it is leadership that counts.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
COOPER: To summarize he believes leadership is good. As for those pesky details about specific issues.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, I don't want to get into that right now because as we go on with our campaign we will be addressing all of those issues.
We will have a plan very soon, a detailed plan on how to face those kind of problems.
I have assembled already a problem solving team that is being put together right now as we see speak.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
COOPER: One issue is he is willing to speak about now is business.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SCHWARZENEGGER: More businesses are leaving California than ever before.
Businesses when you bring them back to California it brings the revenue back to California.
Let's bring businesses back to California.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
COOPER: To summarize he believes both leadership and business are good. And jobs. He says jobs are important as well.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SCHWARZENEGGER: Everyone in California has a great job, a fantastic job.
People want to work. People need to work so they can make a living and pay for their families and all that stuff.
COOPER: What exactly does he mean by all that stuff?
