Golden Globe Nominations

SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: It's time to go to Hollywood, where they are announcing the nominees for the 61st Golden Globe Awards, honoring the year's best in film and in television. One of the leading contenders for best picture nomination is Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," "Master and Commander," and also "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise are also favorites. The civil war epic "Cold Mountain," which won't be released until Christmas Day, could also grab a nod. It could grab nominations for its two stars, Nicole Kidman and Jude Law. The animated fishtail "Finding Nemo" was the year's top grossing film. It could be nominated in the musical comedy category, and sure to grab a mention is the TV megahit "Friends," which is now in its final season.
Let's go to Dick Clark. He is about to announce the presenters this morning for these nominations. Let's listen in.

CLARK: Welcome to the 61st Annual Golden Globe Awards. Now before we get to our nominations, the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Lorenzo Soria has a couple of brief, but very important announcements.
LORENZO SORIA, HOLLYWOOD FOREIGN PRESS ASSOC.: Thank you, Dick. This year's show will take place on Sunday, January 25th, with the arrival special at 7:00, followed by the award ceremony at 8:00. As announced earlier, our board of directors has chosen a Golden Globe- winning actor/producer as this year's recipient of the Cecile B. Demile award, Mr. Michael Douglas.
