KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: Now we're going to take you live back to the Scott Peterson trial we've been following. Mark Geragos addressing reporters. Let's listen in.
(JOINED IN PROGRESS)
MARK GERAGOS, PETERSON ATTORNEY: Next week is a court holiday in some jurisdictions. And the 16th is a court holiday in some jurisdictions, so no we won't have any (UNINTELLIGIBLE).
(CROSSTALK)
GERAGOS: The timeline here is, as a practical matter, is probably the case in Pasadena will finish up. This judge, who by all accounts and reputation is a very quick study, will get up to speed on all the motions filed. At some point, my guess would be that there will be a motions hearing that would probably be the end of next week.
But remember, there is a court holiday in there, or the following week, the beginning of the following week. And then after that, I would expect jury selection sometime after that.
So you have to go through a couple of the motions, you have to go through the pretrial matters. And then at some point, there'll be a painstaking process of jury selection.
QUESTION: Are you looking at another change of venue possibly?
GERAGOS: There's always -- all that was referred to -- and I don't want to get into anything that would violate the protective order. What we talked about in court is that there's always the issue of whether or not you can get a jury in the jurisdiction. You never know that until you start questioning people.
QUESTION: Can you say why you dropped your objection to the prosecution (OFF-MIKE)?
GERAGOS: I can't because once we did -- very similar to what we did with Judge Girolami even though they had originally exercised their peremptory challenge on Judge Girolami. Once we investigated, we found out that it turned out to be true, but he was fair-minded and tough jurist, and that's what we wanted.
But by all accounts, this judge, Judge Delucchi has a sterling reputation, evenhanded, and fair. That's all we're asking for. Thank you. PHILLIPS: Scott Peterson's attorney, Mark Geragos, addressing reporters. The latest news coming out of Redwood City is actually that the judge will not be allowing cameras in the courtroom for that trial.
