Ricin Investigation

MILES O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's get to Capitol Hill right away. Live pictures right now, A news conference. This is the chief of the U.S. Capitol Police, Terrence Gainer, update on the ricin investigation.

CHIEF TERRENCE GAINER, CAPITOL HILL POLICE: ... they're area of responsibility.
But where we are so far from yesterday is a substantial progress continues to be made to reclaim the buildings. You know now that the Russell Building, to our immediate right, is open for both the staff, and the member and the public, and we are pleased with that. It was a very orderly work last night by the Marine Corps and Coast Guard team, in conjunction with the Capitol Police and the FBI, to gather the mail from there, get the trash out and do some of the environmental testing.
We are now working in the Hart office building, as well as the Dirksen building. So we really are moving along very nicely on that.
Yesterday on the last evening, on the House side, we completed 100 percent completion of the Rayburn building. So joining the Capitol building, which was completed, the postal square, we are making substantial progress, and frankly, are a little bit ahead of schedule because of the support of these individuals.
The criminal investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the FBI. and at this point, I would ask Mike Mason, the assistant director of the FBI, Washington field office, to comment.
MIKE MASON, FBI: Good afternoon.
At this point in time, there's really not a whole lot that we can share with you as this investigation is really still in its infancy.
O'BRIEN: We're actually going to actually bail out of this. We'll be listening to the FBI field officer as he makes his statement here. But basically, that gave you the quick update on the ricin investigation. Those office buildings still on track to open up tomorrow and on Monday. We'll keep you posted of course as that ricin investigation continues.
